HomeworkTV is a live, interactive, call-in show. It is designed to provide the Middle School students of Horry County with some extra help with their Mathematics and Language Arts homework assignments.
HomeworkTV airs on HCS-TV12 most Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5-6 pm during the regular school year and breaks for holidays and summers.
HomeworkTV's mission is to give students another way to understand the concepts they have been taught, and also aide parents in helping their children with their homework.
Anyone with a homework question – a student or parent – calls HomeworkTV at 488-6797. The producer of the show will answer the call and take some basic demographic information. In the order that the calls are taken, the producer transfers the callers over to the teacher who will then attempt to help the caller not only answer the question, but also reinforce the strategies and lessons taught. A teacher will be able to help with one or two questions, depending on how many students are waiting.
HomeworkTV is designed as a teaching and tutoring aide for the middle school students of Horry County, although students from all grade levels have called in with questions. Though we will not do a student’s homework for them, we will attempt to foster the understanding that will allow the students to complete the assignment on their own. Students may always call back if struggling with the same concept, or more than one concept in the same assignment.
If there are no calls, the teacher will present a middle school level, standards-based lesson.
